John Cooper Clarke, né en 1949, est un poète originaire du Nord de l'Angleterre dans la région de Manchester. Il fit la première partie de groupes punk et new wave tels que The Sex Pistols, The Fall, The Buzzcocks... et Joy Division. Il fait une apparition dans le film Control (2007) d'Anton Corbijn où il interprète son propre rôle... trente ans après.
